- Cultural Experiences/Oaxacan Gold, presented by Greg Davis

In 2018, Davis began photographing and producing the multi-media cultural experience “Oaxacan Gold” to bring awareness to the stunning beauty, cultural depth and mystical nature of the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. The exhibition premiered at the Art Center Waco in May of 2022.
The exhibit was accompanied by Greg’s directorial debut and short documentary film, “Cloth Paper Dreams,” that screened in more than 20 film festivals and now is on gaia.com.
“The purpose of my work is to serve as a reminder to us that we are all part of something greater than ourselves. At a faster rate than ever before, our world is shrinking and traditional cultures are at risk. It is imperative that we be aware of and respect the diversity of our planet as well as our unprecedented need to preserve it,” says Greg.
Greg is a published and contributing photographer for National Geographic/Disney, and was represented by the National Geographic Image Collection for over a decade.
His work was recently published in National Geographic Books, “America the Beautiful”, “Destinations of a Lifetime” and “Women: The National Geographic Image Collection”. His images are in private and institutional collections, including the Wittliff Collection, the Raymond James Collection and the Grace Museum.
The Bird Competition
The annual Bird Competition is scheduled Oct. 28 and will be hosted by Dallas Camera Club. No, it’s not about birds; the annual photo competition was named by a Fort Worth artist. Fort Worth has won every year since 2007 (not held in 2016). Learn more.
