Our outing on Saturday, June 11, is to the Pickup Mini Ranch about 5 miles south of Granbury on Hwy. 144, approximately a one-hour drive from Fort Worth. Look for it on the east side of the road. It has a sign called the Rio Brazos Texas on the front of the building (the rest of the sign has fallen).
There are four partially buried pickup trucks along the fence and an abandoned dance hall in the back, with lots of photo ops. The Rio Brazos Music Hall is permanently closed and access to the parking lot is closed. There is enough room to park in front of the entrance to the facility. The entire site is abandoned, and although there is a pipe fence and gate, it is not posted.
Car-pooling is recommended as there isn’t much room to park at the site. We will meet at the Benbrook Walmart, 8840 Benbrook Blvd., Benbrook (view a map) and depart promptly at 8:30 a.m.
After shooting there and any other locations in Granbury, we then will meet for lunch at Pastafina Italian Restaurant, 1106 S. Morgan Street in Granbury.
